Join, Row and Make a Difference
In 2019, Oxfam's report "The Power of Education to Fight Inequality" brought to light the education gap that exists around the world based on family income. In developing countries, a child from a low-income family is seven times less likely to finish secondary school, and in rich countries only three-quarters of children from poor families complete secondary school.
At Row for an Education (ROWE), our mission is to fight inequality by supporting children from underprivileged families through sport and learning. The Charity Rowing Marathon is a key element of our strategy, which aims to build an inclusive community and promote the sport of rowing.
To celebrate International Education Day on January 24, Row for an Education is organizing a charity rowathon to raise funds to finance its activities in support of children from underprivileged families. This is a virtual event welcoming participants from all over the world, regardless of their rowing experience.
From January 22 to 28, 2024, participants will row in their sports facilities or on their own ergometers and submit their results online. You can participate as many times as you want throughout the week, on water and on ergometer, to row the longest distance possible.
Once the marathon is over, all the results of the week will be consolidated and the winners of both categories will be those who have paddled the most meters. In addition, the top 10 finishers in the individual category will receive our 2024 wall calendar.
If you have never rowed before, that's okay! Contribute to the cause by registering for the marathon or simply donate here. Every little bit helps us reach our goal.
